Corrections are the point
The correction tool is the substantive change. A reader can highlight the exact sentence they believe is wrong, quote it, and explain the problem. The request goes to a named editor rather than a generic inbox. Accepted corrections are applied to the article itself and the change date is shown on the page, so the record is fixed rather than buried under a comment.
Discussion with a moderation policy
Comments are threaded and require an account. They are moderated against a published policy: no spam, no undisclosed promotion, no personal attacks. Moderation decisions are made by a person, and removed comments are removed with a reason.
Ratings that feed editorial planning
Star ratings are aggregated per article and reviewed alongside traffic and dwell time. Pages that readers consistently rate poorly are queued for rewrite ahead of schedule rather than left in place, which extends the site's existing living-article model with a direct reader signal.

Privacy
Ratings, comments and corrections are tied to an account, and account holders can request an export or deletion of their data at any time through the site's data-request page. Comment authorship is shown as a display name; email addresses are never exposed to other readers.
